Chicago artist Katherine Hilden delights visitors of all ages with her lively caricatures. Stop by the Museum Store to be drawn in the theme of the day, wearing a fabulous gown from Chic Chicago.

Fashion Chicago Style
Tuesday, December 2
Reception begins at 6:00 p.m., lecture follows at 7:00 p.m.
Join moderator Micah Materre for a discussion with African American StyleMakers about their work and the Chicago fashion industry. Panelists include Barbara Bates, Barbara Samuels, Leigh Jones, Jermikko Shoshanna, and Reginald Thomas. Presented in partnership with The HistoryMakers, the nation's largest African American oral history archive.
This special event is one of many programs associated with the exhibition Chic Chicago: Couture Treasures from the Chicago History Museum.

Going for Gold

Discover how the Catholic Youth Organization's Golden Gloves and the Greek Orthodox Church's sports leagues have promoted ideals of athletic excellence among youth and shaped their communities. This Cultural Connections program is presented in partnership with the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center and the Field Museum.

Sunday School Cinema

Good movie? Bad movie? Condemned movie that thou shall not watch? If you’re confused, ask Sister. She knows the difference. (Spiderman 3? In Sister’s world, no man should wear Lycra.) In this special Project Sunday performance comedy, Sister reviews current movies and gives her thumbs up/thumbs down, using her ever-present ruler.
This performance is presented in conjunction with the exhibition, Catholic Chicago, and Project Sunday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

A Day of Remembrance
Sunday, February 15, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Commemorate the 67th anniversary of FDR's signing of Executive Order 9066, which forcefully relocated 120,000 Japanese and Japanese American residents to internment camps during WWII. A panel will explore the testimony of witnesses at the local hearings of the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians in 1981. Presented by the Japanese American Citizens League. The Chicago Maritime Festival

Celebrate Chicago's diverse marine community and heritage! Daytime activities include seminars, workshops, films, and exhibitions on underwater archeology, the Eastland ship, lighthouses, model shipbuilding, diving, voyaging, and tall ships.
Maritime Music Concert
7:00–10:30 p.m.
This popular concert brings together musicians from around the country and across the sea, including David Coffin, the Johnson Girls, Dan Milner, and Tom and Chris Kastle.
The Chicago Maritime Festival is presented in partnership with Common Times and the Chicago Maritime Society.
Cost:
$25 for both festival and concert; $20 early-bird special before February 15; $10 festival only; $20 concert only; free for children 12 and under. CMS and CHM members receive a 10 percent discount.

Chicago's 172nd Birthday Party

Refund Policy:
Refunds for a tour will be given in the form of tour credit which can be applied to another tour. Credit will be given with a minimum of two weeks notice prior to the day of the tour. No exceptions.
