Explore Chicago’s unique and often surprising connections to the
Civil
War. During the first session, learn the latest scholarship,
participate in
an interactive workshop, enjoy time in the galleries, and receive
classroom
resources. On the bus tour, discover famous Chicago Civil
War
sites, such as Rosehill Cemetery, the site of the Wigwam
where
the 1860 Republican Convention was held, and the monument to
Stephen Douglas.

Great Chicago Stories: Protest and Celebration in the Gilded
Age
Earn up to 7 CPDUs
Discover the many facets of the Gilded Age in Chicago. At
the
start of the era, labor activists fought for the eight-hour day at
Haymarket Square, but by the close of the era, the city celebrated the
World’s Fair of 1893. During the first session explore the exhibitions,
enjoy a hands-on workshop and receive resource materials. During the
second session, go on a bus tour to visit Haymarket Square and the 1893
fairgrounds in Jackson Park.
